7 Questions Answered About Georgia's October 7 Voter Registration Deadline – WABE

The deadline to register to vote in Georgia's November 5 general election is October 7.

To check your voter registration status, visit the Georgia Secretary of State's My Voter page.

What are the requirements to be able to vote?

You must be a U.S. citizen, a legal resident of Georgia, at least 18 years old on Election Day, not currently serving a felony sentence, and not been declared mentally incompetent by a court. You must have a valid driver's license or ID issued by the Georgia Department of Driver Services to register to vote online.

If I haven't voted for a while, am I still registered to vote?

If you have registered to vote in the past but did not vote in the last election, you should still be registered to vote. However, you should take a look at the Georgia Secretary of State's My Voter page. You could be inactive if you haven't had contact with election officials for five years.

Your registration will be canceled if you continue to have no contact with election officials during the next two general elections. To take action, you can vote, update your address, sign a petition, request an absentee ballot, or check your status online.
