When he found out that he was unemployed, Dr. Wolf's friend from medical school, Dr. Kinney invited him to work at her hospital, Bronx General. Dr. Wolf is initially hesitant, but eventually accepts the position and is paired with a patient who cannot feel emotions toward things or people with whom she has deep bonds. This condition occurred after brain surgery that left her unable to properly care for her children.

Although other doctors brush her aside, Dr. Wolf tells her and vows to help her love her boys again. Unfortunately, a Child Protective Services worker removes the children from their home due to their condition, which Dr. Wolf's progress hindered.

While her sons no longer live with her at home, Dr. Wolf asked for regular visits to help him better understand the disease. His method works and he convinces the child protection worker to allow the children to return home and reunite his patient with her children.

While Dr. Dr. Wolf's actions on behalf of his patients are admirable and affirm the Bible's teachings about the inherent dignity of humanity. Wolf himself not inspiring.

Episode 1 of BRILLIANT MINDS is an entertaining start to the new medical drama. The series sets itself apart from many medical dramas by focusing on a brilliant doctor doing incredible work, rather than putting the medical aspect aside and focusing on unnecessary drama and immoral actions. If the series continues on the path taken by the first episode, it could be a family-friendly medical drama with staying power. However, due to the mild profanity and focus of the series, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution with older children.
