Raiders' Davante Adams reaches out to Antonio Pierce, who wrote a post about a potential WR trade

A screenshot shared on social media Monday appeared to show Las Vegas Raiders coach Antonio Pierce “liking” an Instagram post that suggested receiver Davante Adams could be traded.

“Don’t be surprised if Davante Adams has already played his last snap with the Raiders,” the post reads, with a link to a report by Sports Illustrated writer Michael Fabiano.

Adams was asked about the screenshot during his weekly appearance on The Up & Adams Show on Monday.

“I haven’t heard from (Pierce). I haven’t spoken to him,” Adams said. “I don't know exactly what it was about. … It's one of those situations where I just keep my head down, do my thing and let things fall where they may. Since this has been going on, there's been no communication with anyone on the team, but it's a bit like the weekly “What's wrong with Tae?” thing. It's always some kind of drama. But in the end, 17 doesn’t manage any of it.”

“So people can say whatever they want, but I just relax and try to be the example of not being agitated, just going with it and doing what I have to do.”

When host Kay Adams later mentioned that she hoped the wide receiver would hear from Pierce on Tuesday, Davante replied, “Yeah, I do too.”

When contacted by The athlete A Raiders spokesman declined to comment on the matter.

Davante has been the subject of constant trade rumors since last year, due to a mix of Las Vegas' inability to win consistently and his own public outbursts of frustration.

“It’s definitely going to be annoying,” Davante said when asked how he views the trade rumors.

However, every time a team has made a formal trade offer for Davante, the Raiders have rejected it. If Pierce intentionally liked the Sports Illustrated piece, he could send a message to Davante — and other teams — that things have changed.

When Davante was asked by Kay if he played his last snap for Las Vegas, he responded noncommittally.

“All I can control is this conversation we’re having here. And when we’re done with that, the only thing I have control over is what I do next,” Davante said. “I’m about to get up and have a nice workout and that’s all I can control.”

Davante injured his hamstring in practice last Thursday and did not play against the Cleveland Browns last Sunday, but was on the sideline in street clothes for the game. His timetable for return remains unclear.

“I’m not sure yet,” Davante said when asked if he will play Sunday against the Denver Broncos. “We are doing everything we can to get back on the pitch. And honestly, I don’t know.”
