Teens arrested after allegedly hitting a woman with a stolen car in downtown Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A teenage boy and girl are facing numerous charges after they allegedly hit a woman with a stolen car and fled the scene Monday morning, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

According to police, two suspects, 18-year-old Deshawn Horn and a 17-year-old girl, are charged in the hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian on Commerce Street at Representative John Lewis Way.

After the woman was struck, Horn and the girl allegedly fled on foot from the 2022 Kia Sportage, which was stolen from a parking lot on Titans Way Sunday evening. The woman was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

“Central District officers were able to obtain clues to the suspects’ whereabouts using the downtown camera system. They were later arrested outside the Walmart at 3458 Dickerson Pike,” MNPD said.

Horn is charged with vehicle theft, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, failure to render aid/notify, driving without license/insurance and drug possession.

According to an arrest report, officers said they found 0.3 grams of a white powder substance believed to be cocaine folded inside a $1 bill in Horn's back pocket. MNPD said Horn is also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor because his co-defendant is 17 years old.

He is being held on a $61,000 bond.

The girl is charged in juvenile court with vehicle theft, failure to render aid/termination and leaving the scene of an accident.

“The investigation into the juveniles’ possible involvement in additional thefts is ongoing,” MNPD said.
