The Niners need to trade for Davante Adams

It's official, Davante Adams is done with the Raiders and has requested a trade. In this league where the passing game continues to thrive, Adams is a player that every playoff team would love to have, but why should the Niners get him?

There are a few big reasons why the Niners should sign him, and the biggest one for me is the role I think he would fill. He could be the McCaffrey for this team. You read this and are confused: “Davante is not a running back.” No, he's not, but he could take over McCaffrey's role as a safety net. No 49ers receiver is a better route runner than Davante. There may not be a better receiver in the league who can do it better than Davante. Adams can create easy separation on almost any route he runs, giving Brock Purdy an easy pass to rely on in tighter coverages.

Another important reason is that the equity they would need to provide for the deal is really low.

The only problem is that the Niners don't have much cap space left, meaning a deal would likely require them to part with a big contract. Which brings up my crazy trade of the day.

Brandon Aiyuk for Davante Adams.

This deal kills two birds with one stone. Brandon Aiyuk's antics impacted the entire offseason and regular season. His contract negotiations, trade requests, and wrong color pants are all signs of this, and maybe the Niners are tired of it. If this deal were offered, the Raiders and Niners would leave with dissatisfied players and gain a player eager to prove his doubters wrong. Aiyuk has made it very clear that he loves and respects his former college coach, current Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce. So why not go with him and build a whole new culture with him? And for Davante, moving from the Raiders to the Niners is arguably one of the biggest and best upgrades possible. He would get a team that respected his wisdom, in which he was the best at his position for years. With a QB steering the ship like Brock Purdy, he could get easy targets, and who can forget an appearance on Deebo's new show? Ok, maybe not the last one, but you get the idea. It would be ideal for Adams, and he would finally have a chance to win a Super Bowl on the road in Green Bay.

Now we can move on to the main reason the Niners need to act quickly: Adams is dangerous on any other team. Imagine if Adams moved to a 49ers rival. If he goes to the Rams they can win the division, if he goes to the Cardinals they can win the division, if he goes to the Seahawks they can win the division. And it can only get worse. If the Chiefs or Jets get their hands on him, they'll be assured of the Super Bowl. In a season where the Niners are off to a slow start, they can't afford to let their competition get their hands on Adams.

Will the Niners make it? I don't think they will do that. Will it end up biting them? Oh, I think so.
